I have made available a second pre-release of nfs-utils 1.0.7.
It can be downloaded from
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=14
or
http://www.{countrycode}.kernel.org/pub/linux/utils/nfs/
This release adds some statd fixes and a couple of other small bug fixes,
and also gets ./configure to complain if libnfsidmap or libevent aren't installed
(unless --disable-nfsv4 is selected).
README also says where to get these libraries from.
I still hope to put this out as a final 1.0.7 before Christmas.
Having lots of people say "Yes, I've tried it, and it works OK" would
make a great Christmas present :-)

Neil, would you be interested in including mount.nfs in this release of
nfs-utils? It's some 90% done for NFSv2/v3, and I could make the push
to 99% if you tell me you will include it.

In principle, I'm happy to include it.
I'd really like to release 1.0.7 on Friday 17th if at all possible.
How about you send me what you have now, and send the remaining 9% :-)
when it's ready. That way I'll already be familiar with the details
and including the final version should be reasonably smooth.

Well, it still complains with --disable-nfsv4:
svcgssd_proc.c:47:22: nfsidmap.h: No such file or directory

Well, with --disable-nfsv4 --disable-gss and without '--enable-secure-statd=
'=20
the statd seems to work fine. As I posted a very long time ago, we are seei=
ng=20
messages like this
lockd: cannot monitor 129.206.21.200
lockd: failed to monitor 129.206.21.200
statd: server localhost not responding, timed out
nsm_mon_unmon: rpc failed, status=3D-5
lockd: cannot monitor 129.206.21.200
lockd: failed to monitor 129.206.21.200
very often if '--enable-secure-statd' is enabled. This also causes much=20
trouble to other services as portmap, ssh, nis, cron, etc. and makes them=20
also crash (not so good as we can't reboot the systems).
Unfortunately this also happens randomly to one/some of our clients rather=
=20
often since we switched to a new server in summer, don't know the reasons=20
yet.
I will now try to enable secure-statd, compiling with debug options and hop=
e=20
the statd core files will help to understand the problem. Though, maybe tho=
se=20
problems are already fixed?
Cheers,
Bernd

It's possible someone could want gss but not nfsv4; the two are
independent, since gss works for all nfs versions.

"Yes, I've tried it, and it works OK"... :)
Seriously though, I did test the HA callout stuff and it, as well as
everything else, looks good.
Thanks,

Any chance that you include our autotools patch in this release? Or is
it too intrusive? In this case I would be interested in some further
feedback.
Cheers,
Robert

It looks like a large patch. Neil seems to want to get 1.0.7 out in the
next few days.
I'd be happy to take the patch, include it in the citi nfs-utils patch
series for a while, then push it to Neil after 1.0.7. That way I'd get
the chance to make any necessary fixes for nfsv4/gss before it went in.
Does that sound OK?

Ok! I'll send a new patch ported to pre2.

s/are/should be/
The point is that svcgssd_proc.c includes nfsidmap.h, so gss support
won't build without nfsidmap.h even thought it shouldn't be needed.
Maybe this can be cleaned up for 1.0.8, but I'll release 1.0.7 with an
extra check for nfsidmap.h is gss is selected.

... Or 1.0.7, I assume. Also, when you do that, could you separate out
the changes that are just automatically generated by automake and such?
So then there'll be two patches, which apply in order, the first with
the changes you made, the second with the automatically generated stuff.
(And if you could include a comment with the second patch explaining
what you ran, e.g., "aclocal && automake --add-missing", that'd help
too.)
