Hello:

I am currently running VDR on my linux 2.6.8, SuSE 9.2 box running alsa
1.0.6 and would like to upmix the 2 channel dvb audio to analogue 5.1
from my ttpci premium card that is fed into my soundblaster live 5.1
soundcard via the line in port using the emu10k1 driver.

Before I used a ttusb budget device with vdr xine and got used to the
5.1 upmixed audio which xine upmixed!

Anyone know how to do this? Have looked in vain thus far for a
solution .. Do I need to write a audio filter for this - and if so can
anyone point me in the direction of a how to or sample file to do this?

Greatly appreciate any help.

Cheers,

David

It should just work. If you set "Line In Volume" and "Line In Capture
Volume" to 100% then you should hear the line in on all the 5.1
channels.

Does it not work this way for you?

Hi,

AFAIK there is no way to upmix line in to 5.1 in alsa default config
for sb live.

Audigy is diffrent.

Maybe if you use ld10k1, this will do upmix (init_live script).

I am working on improving the default DSP config for the SBLive. There
are many problems with it, the lack of master volume being the worst.

In order to have enough GPRs to solve this and the master volume problem
then some features will have to go. Like the redundant "switch"
controls (the same thing could be accomplished by setting volume to 0).

Nice, do you intend to separate the default and front pcm devices?
Currently it isn't possible to play one sound on the front speakers and
one sound on both front and rear speakers at the same time. My
proposition is to use FX 8 and 9 for the front device, as on Audigy.

Most users probably don't have a live drive and can't use several of the
inputs that are activated in the default configuration. What if some of
the new features are made optional and can be used only if some of the
inputs or outputs are disabled in the extin and extout module parameters?

This is the basic idea, to make it more like the Audigy config. There
should be enough GPRs.

Sourceforge seems to be bouncing my mail with "550 Administrative
Prohibition". Let's see if this makes it.

If more GPRs are needed, it should be possible to use mono instead of
stereo controls for the switches.
