Linus Torvalds, the creator of the world's second most
common Operating System, Linux, will soon become the owner
of the world's largest software company, Microsoft.
William Gates, the present CEO of Microsoft, announced today
that because of an accounting error in Microsoft Money,
a program developed and distributed by Microsoft, it became
possible for an outsider to gain control of the company by
acquiring a negative amount of outstanding stock.
Through his attorney, Melvin Beli, Linus announced that he
had no intention of selling his negative shares of Microsoft
stock which caused the accounting overflow. As soon as he
is able to take a short leave-of-absence from Transmeta,
Linus plans to move the Redmond operation to Afghanistan.

Hi.
I have seen that the binary policy file (policy.15) have "15" as version
of the checkpolicy utility, right ?
The change done in the sysvinit package load the policy as:
/sbin/load_policy /etc/security/selinux/policy.15, right?
If yes, a change in the version of the checkpolicy, I have that change
the sysvinit too ?
Is this a good idea ?
This is only a question.
Cheers.
Thanks.

The file /selinux/policyvers has the version. A future version of sysvinit
will examine that file to determine which (of possibly many) policy databases
should be loaded.
Maybe Dan's rpm has this already, I haven't checked.

Yes, the patched SysVinit already includes this feature. A
security_policyvers() function was added to libselinux to encapsulate
obtaining the policy version required for the kernel, and the patched
init program uses this function to obtain the version number at
runtime. The library function will try to obtain the version number
from the kernel via /selinux/policyvers, and will fall back to a default
of 15 if that fails (for older kernels that did not export
/selinux/policyvers).

Yes the current patch used security_policyvers from libselinux to
determine the policy version.

Malo ni!
Ea mai koe?
We thank you for your support question. So that we are able to provide
You immediate assistance, we developed this automated email response.
It contains several useful tips and answers to typical support questions.
We hope it will help solve your issue!
Although this email is usually helpful for standard support issues, if you
were unable to locate the answer to your problem, please email
livesupport@dot.tk. We will provide further assistance within 48 hours.
PROBLEM 1
---------
Problem: Internal server error
or
Explicit server error
We thank you for reporting this error. Dot TK is growing very rapidly and
as a result, our systems are expanding dramatically, as well. Because of this
growth, we do see occasional errors, such as the one you have received. We
are working hard to minimize such errors and are hopeful that it will not effect
you beyond this incident.
PROBLEM 2
---------
Problem: I stopped in the middle of the registration process and now
my domain is taken.
Don't worry. If you were in the registration process and did not complete
the last step (Step 5), then your domain is probably just .on hold. for 30
minutes. After 30 minutes the domain name should automatically be
released. To secure the domain, you will have to complete the entire
registration process again at that time.
PROBLEM 3
---------
Problem: I did not get a confirmation email.
There are a number of reasons that this may have occurred. You can request
a copy of your confirmation email by going to:
http://my.dot.tk/cgi-bin/login01.taloha
Please enter your email address and click 'Resend the new registration email'.
However, if you provided an incorrect email address or did not get the
confirmation email for some other reason your registration of the
domain will not be accepted. The domain is on hold,
but will be released by our system within 72 hours (3 days). At that time,
the domain will be available for re-registration. If you wish to secure the
domain, you will be required to complete the registration process again.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
PROBLEM 4
---------
Problem: My address did not pass the verification system.
Dot TK uses an Address Verification System to insure that our
registrants provide valid information and that the information is correct.
Due to the complexity of International Address Verification, the system
occasionally identifies correct, valid data as invalid.
If you are experiencing this problem, please be sure you are completing
all the fields. All fields are mandatory, except the fax number. If you do not
have a phone line or area code, please be sure you enter a '0' in the area
code field and '000000' in the phone number field. This usually solves the
problem.
PROBLEM 5
---------
Problem: I have problems with uploading content to my website.
Dot TK is NOT an Internet Service Provider or hosting facility.
We just forward your Dot TK domain name to another existing
webpage or website, located somewhere on the Internet. Please
consult your existing Internet Service provider or hosting
facility how you can upload HTML, images and more with programs
like FTP, WSFTP or SCP.
PROBLEM 6
---------
Problem: I forgot my password!
Dot TK can send your password to your email address. Just go to
http://my.dot.tk/cgi-bin/login01.taloha
and fill out your email address. Click then on the text
'Email me my password' and within seconds you will receive
an email with your password.
Please note that both email address and password are case
sensitive.
PROBLEM 7
---------
Problem: my domain has been suspended, now what?
For all FREEDOMAIN.TK domain names there is an important
rule: you should have at least 30 hits every 90 days.
If you have less then 30 hits, your domain name will
be suspended for 10 following days. During these days
you are able to buy your domain name. Please visit
My Dot TK, login, and go to 'Pay for domain'.
Please note that this usage rule is ONLY applicable
for FREEDOMAIN.TK domain names and NOT for PAIDDOMAIN.TK,
SPECIALDOMAIN.TK and TRADEMARK.TK domain names.
If your support issue has not been answered, please send an email to
livesupport@dot.tk for personal assistance.
Faka fetai (thank you)

I got the libipq/QUEUE part working but the problem is that it only works
for the first time. For example, if I want to drop all icmp packets, it
will, but if I change the nfmark from drop to accept and then recompile my
libipq program, it does not work and the dropping policy is maintained. Same
for the other way around.

Please explain what you refer to by "change the nfmark from drop to
accept".
nfmark does not have a concept of drop/accept, just value.
Is you perhaps speaking about the verdict set by the userspace telling if
the packet should be accepted (passed on to next hook) or dropped? This is
just a verdict and not related to nfmark.

Henrik

Yes, I mean to say the verdict. Now I am a bit confused. Is not the verdict
enough to tell the kernel what to do with the packets? If yes, then it does
not work with me more than once.

The verdict tells what to do with the packet in this hook
(PREROUTING/FORWARD/POSTROUTING etc). Only if the verdirct is NF_ACCEPT is
the packet accepted by this hook.
Why it only works "once" for you I do not know. Maybe if you describe in
full details what you mean by "once" we can find some hint to what is
going wrong.
It is only that your talk about nfmark made me a little confused. nfmark
is not related to the verdict. See the MARK target and/or linux advaced
routing howto for more info on nfmark in case you want to learn more what
the nfmark is and how it may be used. But it is not related to your
problem.

Thanks for your help, I simply want to QUEUE packets to the libipq
application and then through verdict accept or drop them. Sorry for creating
the confusion by using "nfmark" in my emails. Right now my work does not
require nfmark at all.
Now what I mean by "once" is that whenever I queue a specific flow of packet
to the libipq program and for example set the verdict to DROP, it works
fine. But if I change the verdict to ACCEPT and recompile my program, the
box still drops the packets. On the other hand if I ACCEPT the packets
first, they will always be accepted even after changing the verdict to DROP.
In short, whatever verdict I set the first time seems to be there always
despite the fact that I change the verdict and recompile the program.

But it is not related to your
problem.

Have you restarted your application?
Are you positively sure you restarted the recompiled binary?

What does your ruleset (in iptables) look like?

What do you exactly mean by "restarting". I just recompile my .c file that
generates a .out file and that's it. Do I have to make an exe or binary from
it or what?
I invoke the QUEUE target from the iptables commands and it looks something
like this
iptables -A OUTPUT -p icmp -j QUEUE

What do you exactly mean by "stopping" because I don't even start anything,
I just compile the code and that is it, and that is what I do every time I
change the code (set_verdict). As far as the iptables rule, I was simply
testing the rule in the manpage example but for my work I have to queue
packets at the INPUT.
Another interesting thing I just faced was that although the
iptables_filter.o and ip_queue.o files are present in my Netfilter directory
(as they were compiled with the kernel), whenever I run the command modprobe
iptables_filter and modprobe ip_queue, it says FATAL: module not found. When
I run the insmod module name it say "invalid module format". Really lost!!!

No, but you have to stop the old binary and start the new one...

Any other OUTPUT rules before this?

You also need to start what you have compiled, if not nothing will happen.

No idea, but as you can insert the QUEUE target this probably is a
non-issue.

I am having problems in installing modules necessary for libipq (ip_queue
and iptable_filter). Now from the documentation, I found out that the kernel
should also support netlink sockets (IP_NF_QUEUE). When I add this as a
module, I can install ip_queue but cannot find the ip_nf_queue module. When
I add the netlink socket support and compile it with the kernel, I cannot
install ip_queue and receive a message stating "segmentation fault" when
running "modprobe ip_queue".
Regarding starting and stopping the c program, this is what I do:
To start = ./a.out
To stop = cntrl C
Is this what you meant by starting after compilation and stopping before
making any changes and recompilation? I am stuck with this libipq and QUEUE
issue for more than a week now, your help will be highly appreciated.

I was given this email address as the most likely contact for getting help with an IPTables problem. I am attempting to set up a linux router with eth0, ppp0, and ppp1. eth0 is the internal nic and ppp0 and ppp1 are both external internet connections. I have the local network set up in the 192.168.1.x fashion with the router at 192.168.1.1 and the 6 computers within the network from 192.168.1.100 through 192.168.1.105. I would like to route all outbound traffic from 192.168.1.100, 192.168.1.101, and 192.168.1.102 through ppp0 and all other outbound traffic through ppp1. All of the guides I have found to this point walk me through steps and configuration settings that end up with one of two possibilities. The first is that all outbound traffic is still being routed through only 1 of the two connections and the second is the problem that I may not be able to get any data to get outside the network. I hope that this message has found a person who will be able to help me and I also hope that you are able to send me some information back regarding this issue. If this email address is not correct, please forward this or let me know who I should be getting in touch with.
Thank you,
Matt Winkler
