how to install time patch

how to install time patch

I am using the Linux version 2.4.21-4.ELsmp..I wand to
install time patch for IPtables for that i have
visited at

Folloed the instructions and run the command

# cvs -d :pserver:cvs@pserver.netfilter.org:/cvspublic
login

i m reciving the error ..

[root@qalinux5 linux-2.4]#  cvs -d
:pserver:cvs@pserver.netfilter.org:/cvspublic login
Logging in to
:pserver:cvs@pserver.netfilter.org:2401/cvspublic
CVS password: 
cvs [login aborted]: connect to
pserver.netfilter.org(213.95.27.115):2401 failed:
Connection refused

Can you plz guid me how to install time patch step by
step for my Linux version 2.4.21-4.ELsmp and iptable
version is iptables-save v1.2.8..

The netfilter project switched from CVS to SVN time ago. That doc needs
to be updated :(

Can you tell me how can i update my iptables for time
patch..
i have visited google even but i din't find the
solution.I am not very much frendly with linux..plz
tell me how to update my iptables for time patch..

i have visited at

but i m not able to doit successful..can any one guide
me how to install "libipt_time.so" under Enterprise
linux AS-3 (Linux version 2.4.21-4.ELsmp)..

I can not help you with the time patch, but maybe you
could try something else instead to avoid having to patch
your kernel. How about having two or more sets of firewall
rules and using cron to load the appropriate firewall rules
at the time of day you want the rules to change?

No it hasn't /proc/net/ip_tables_matches interface
but there is /proc/net/ip_mr_cache &
/proc/net/ip_mr_vif
can you tell me how to upgrade kernal ??

1) Checkout a working copy of pom-ng:
$ svn co https://svn.netfilter.org/netfilter/trunk/patch-o-matic-ng

2) cd trunk/patch-o-matic-ng and ./runme
Then apply the time patch, you need the kernel and iptables sources
(Yes, you have to recompile your kernel and iptables)
You'll have to set IPTABLES_DIR and KERNEL_DIR vars to whatever your
sources are located.

I suggest you to post this kind of questions to
netfilter@lists.netfilter.org (users mailling list). Since this is no
concerned with the netfilter development. Thanks!

Hm... To use -m time you need to have ip_time enabled kernel. This 
2.4.21-4.ELsmp smeems to be very old, I don't remember if it has 
/proc/net/ip_tables_matches interface, is so please try:

grep '^time$' /proc/net/ip_tables_matches|wc -l

BTW, any chances for upgrading kernel?

Iptable
version is iptables-save v1.2.8..
I need to install time patch for IPtables for that i
have to install time patch can any one guide me how to
install time patch for iptables i guess i need new
kernal and iptable source and need to compile it again
plz guide me how to do this step by step..
