Try doing a diff on the source in the debian package and the source in the
original mlmmj-1.2.9 package. That should convince you that the Debian
package is based on 1.2.9 code.

This is a known and common problem with mime messages (and one of the
reasons many people don't like html mail, especially on lists).
However, a few days ago, I posted a patch to add the footer in a MIME
compliant way. It is not in 1.2.9, but according to Mads it will be in
1.2.10-RC1.

The last patch I sent to the list (mlmmj-footer-mime6.patch) works fine
here. I also put it on http://plonk.de/sw/mlmmj/mlmmj-footer-mime6.patch
(would be a little laborious to mail it from here...)
