New update for Toshiba users. Some are reporting that turning off acpi
at boot makes sound work. Try adding "acpi=off" to your kernel boot
options.

Hi Tobin,
Model: Satellite Toshiba P100-114 (2.6.17-gentoo-r8)
Subsystem: 1179-ff31
I already knew the “acpi=off” tip ! It goes ~well under Ubuntu but
badly under Gentoo.
Some results:
*** Alsa-driver 1.0.13
No sound !
Alsamixer: Master, Line, Mic
See file “codec0”
*** Alsa-driver 1.0.13, with “acpi=off”
IRQ problem, No network, No X
But sound (not very loud but clear)
Alsamixer: Master, PCM, Line, Mic
See file “codec0_acpi_off”
*** Alsa-driver 1.0.13, Patched
No sound !
Alsamixer: Master, PCM, PCM Capture, Mic Bypass, IEC958, Capture,
ExtMic, IntMic
See file “codec0_patched”
*** Alsa-driver 1.0.13, Patched, “acpi=off”
Same problems with the IRQ 16, No network, No X
But a louder and clear sound, exactly as under Windows
Alsamixer: Master, PCM, PCM Capture, Mic Bypass, IEC958, Capture,
ExtMic, IntMic
See file “codec0_patched_acpi_off”
Small error when patching: alsa-kernel/Documentation/ALSA-Configuration.txt
Hunk #1 FAILED At 865
Hope this will help !

Hi ,
Just to say that I have a PERFECT SOUND, with a working system (network
and X), by adding "irqpoll" after "acpi=off" in the kernel options !
I think that it is not a good idea using my notebook without acpi but it
is for the moment the only way to have sound.
