Very cool stuff.

To boldly go where no u-boot has gone before?

Yes, that's really cool indeed.
But I have to correct you're subject line: its not me who made this,
it's we all here contributing to this and other Free Software
projects. Without such a great community neither U-Boot nor Linux nor
the ELDK would exist. I'm just a small piece in this puzzle, and as
some of you know all too well I'm too often more a bottleneck than a
help.
So all I can say is: Thanks to all of you folks who contribute to all
these projects and make such things possible with Free Software.
Best regards,
Wolfgang Denk

Wow !!
This is a exciting story for me, as I have been working on embedded
Linux for 6 years, (mostly ARM linux, just moved to PPC Linux 6 month
ago). To be honest, i am kind a feeling bored on embedded Linux. I
thouht it probably going nowhere. I've never thought Linux could make
to the space, since I was an Aerospace enineer before and i know
VxWorks is the dominant RTOS in that area.
Congrat. on Wolf Gang and those who put linux into space !
Merry christmas and happy new year.

Linux in space is not really new.
Unless I am mistaking, this is not the first time Linux has made it into
space, I seem to remember some presentation on FOSDEM or possibly within
the DSP Valley framework where an engineer from Verhaert presented their
new system (replacing an older one), but was now running Linux. As far
as I remember though (tm). There is another company (Newtec) that is
involved with ESAT satellite design that is using Linux (AFAIK).
But nothing relevant about the bootloader, so I'll be flamed about being
