On a sad note

Folks,
Linda Reedy asked me to inform the ham community of the passing of
Gwyn Reedy W1BEL (SK). Gwyn was involved in a traffic accident in up
state New York. Appears that he was cut off by a car and lost control of
the truck he was driving, avoiding the car that caused the problem but
loosing his life in the process.

Linda Reedy will provide more information as soon as possible. Gwyn
who was retired from the U.S. Airforce will be given a full military burial
at the Veterans Cemetary in Bushnell, FL. The date is still to be set.

That's sad news.  Gwyn was an important figure in packet's formative
years, and a nice guy to boot.

Yes, I guess if there is a happy note in it, he died doing what he enjoyed.
After flying airplanes for the USAF and then running PacComm for many
years he had always dreamed of driving a truck and indeed had been doing
so for quite some time. He was even trying to get me to do it, but I helped
my wife with her business driving a little box truck pulling a load of bait
and got cut off many a time by some idiot who never thought about how
much weight I was carrying and how fast I could stop, all he/she could
see while talking on the cellphone was that space in front of my bumper.
So I did not accept the invite. We will miss him as he always had a fix
or recommendation to make something better.
