Hi all, I'm sure you're aware of the recent offer by Greg K-H

I think "Yeah - we want that!"

So... how do we go about getting our driver out of alsa-devel and into
alsa-kernel and thence into the main Linux kernel source tree?

As far as support from a hardware vendor goes, we have spent many hours
and will spend more developing our driver ourselves, and would be very
keen to work with whoever to get it into mainline kernels.

The biggest problem of the current asihpi/hpk drivers is its coding
style and structure.  You have to follow the standard coding style.
It includes the coe clean up (also reducing the non-linux part), too.
This implies that the linux version would go to its own way and you'll
very likely lose the API compatibility with your own version for
Windows, Mac or whatever.

Secondly, as suggested in Greg's original post, the datasheet is vital
for the further development / maintenance.  He mentioned about NDA,
but of course the best is the publicly available datasheet.

Anyway, we have already a working version with full sources released
under GPL, so it's much better than other drivers.
