Hi all,
We should start planning the release of lm-sensors 2.10.4. The list of
changes is getting long. We have Linux 2.4 support for the
W83627EHF/EHG, support for extra W83627EHF/EHG/DHG features (VID and
thermal sensor types), support for the dme1737 and applesmc chips, an
improved fancontrol script (needs testing!) and an updated
sensors-detect.
I propose the following schedule:
* July 8th: SVN freeze
* July 9th-15th: testing
* July 16th: release
One again, no i2c release; there's only one minor fix there, that's
just not worth it.

We've seen many commits in the last week, in particular thanks to Hans
de Goede, so there will be a lot of good things in this 2.10.4 release.
I've just committed the last patches I had pending myself, so I declare
the lm-sensors trunk frozen in SVN. I'll do as much testing as possible
next week, and I invite everyone else to do so as well.
Commits are of course still allowed to the lm-sensors-3.0.0 branch.
Phil, will you have the possibility to release lm-sensors 2.10.4 on
July 16th?

I would like to request an exception to the freeze to fix / improve the example
configuration in sensors.conf.eg for the f71882fg, to be more precise I would
like to replace the 2 ignore lines for fan2 and fan3 with 2 label lines, as you
requested. If allowed I will do this first thing tomorrow morning.
Regards,
Hans

Sure, no problem. The f71882fg support is brand new so there is no risk
of introducing a regression. And this hardly counts as an exception
anyway - this is a bug fix, so not affected by the freeze rule.

Thanks,
Ah so this is a no new features freeze / only (serious / non controversial)
bugfixes freeze, not a hard freeze? (When the tree gets frozen for a Fedora
release you have to ask permission for anything even a spelling fix :)

Hans

Yes. Given that we ask people to test and report problems, a hard
freeze would not make much sense. We really want to fix the problems
that are reported to us (or that we discover ourselves during testing.)
Also, updating the documentation is always welcome.
So call it a "cold SVN" if you think that the notion of SVN freeze
doesn't apply to our permissive policy ;)

I am done with the testing. I've made some fixes to sensors-detect, and
minor documentation updates as well. Things look mostly OK to me now.
Phil, you can proceed with the release as your time permits.
Notes:
* libsensors version needs to be set to 3.1.4.
* No i2c release, only lm-sensors.
Thanks,

OK, I've prepared and signed the release. The files are in my home
directory on devel.atrpms.net. Normally I'd move the files into the
proper place in /srv/lm-sensors.org and edit the wiki to link to
them, but that directory doesn't seem to be mounted for me.

Same problem here. I can still login to devel-old.atrpms.net though,
and there the /srv/lm-sensors.org directory exists. So I guess that's
where you want to work for now.
Axel, can you please give us a quick update on the new devel server and
also confirm that we are still supposed to use devel-old for now?
Thanks,

Hi,
the new devel server was just missing symlinks which I now added in. I
haven't tested if everything works under devel as it did under
devel-old (actually I also let the date for introducing the new devel
server slip, as we just had our son get born :). If something is
broken/missing on devel please ping me in PM and use devel-old
instead. Once you're happy on devel (new) we can decomission
devel-old, but there is no hurry.

OK, I've completed the release by copying the files from Phil's home
to /srv/lm-sensors/dl, and updating the wiki. Only thing missing now is
the download mirror, which doesn't yet have the new files. Phil, can you
please copy them there?
Thanks,
