Hey folks,
i'm the owner of a Acer 6492 Notebook. Details of this soundchip are at
the bottom of this e-mail.
I want to support you for developing a version of ALSA that support this
type of intel HDA audio device. So tell me, how i can help you. (Maybe
with testing developer version?).
My OS is Gentoo Linux, and i used the latest ALSA driver (just unmask
the alsa-driver package).
Hope it's ok. :)
Thanks for reply.
P.S.: Details of the audiochip can found here:

this seems to be very similar to mine... (Toshiba Satellite x200-21g)
theres another topic i've opened here "Notebook Toshiba satellite
x200-21g with realtek snd-hda-intel audio device still not supported
(codec ALC268)" with details
what are your problems?

I'm too new to this maillist to read the other topic, sorry ;)
My Problems are:
- under the stable version of alsa-driver at gentoo there isn't any
sound to output :(
- at unstable version of alsa-driver there is just very very crap sound
(sounds like C64) :P
on both, alsaconf found hda_intel. Kernel includet driver are same
unfunctional as stable version of the package in gentoo.
ah.. i want add: i use amd64.

Welcome to alsa. Sorry for not jumping on this earlier, holidays and
such.
Could you run http://bulletproof.servebeer.com/alsa/scripts/alsa-info.sh
and post the resulting link? This will give me a more complete picture
of your system, and I can start working on it this weekend. Hopefully,
I can get you up and running before the end of the year.
Thanks,
Tobin

Ok, based on the information you've provided, it is very possible that
your system is mostly supported. Try reloading the driver with
"model=acer" to see if that gives you full audio support. If it does, I
can add your system to the driver very easily.

Hey,
very thanks for your reply.
I already googled and read that with model=acer, but how do i reload it?
And where to add this "flag"?
P.S.: I don't use the kernelspecific alsa.
thanks

edit /etc/modprobe.d/sound
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=acer
you should add the option to snd-hda-intel simpy add mode=acer, if
there's something already there leave it there (like index=0)
then reboot

Hello,
/etc/modprobe.d just contain these files:
localhost ~ # ls /etc/modprobe.d/
blacklist pnp-aliases
Doesn't matter if i use kernel-integrated alsa or the gentoo ebuild.
=(

If /etc/modprobe.d/sound doesn't exist, create it with the options line
below. The system will recognize it.

It seems that it doesn't work with kernel-built-in ALSA...

You should build ALSA as modules anyway, so you can reload drivers
without rebooting.
