The bit that selects a chain to fold in NFTL_makefreeblock is fairly crap,
and the way we do findfreeblock(0)/makefreeblock()/findfreeblock(desperate)
in NFTL_findwriteunit() is also fairly crap.
That lot wants rethinking.
