Hi,
at OpenPrinting we are currently working hard on the common printing
dialog, a much desired project of the printer manufacturers and also a
great step for the desktop users.
Currently we are on the stage to create specs. Peter Sikking from
OpenUsability is working with a student on the UI specs. I will soon do
the PPD/driver specs and Foomatic extensions.
What we also need to do is defining an interface between application and
dialog. This should be some kind of inter-process communication, like
for example Portland.
Is someone from the Portland project around here on the list, so that we
can discuss this subject. We will also continue this discussion on the
joint meeting of OpenPrinting and Desktop Architects on the Linux
Foundation Summit in Austin, April 10.
Deadlines for the specs are May 26 for the beta and July 4 for the final.
