Hi all,

Changes since next-20080411:

Several merge conflicts have gone away for various reasons (in the ide,
ieee1394, net, vfs and semaphore trees - thanks guys).

Commit "SELinux: Add network port SID cache" from the selinux tree had to
be reverted due to a build failure.

The net tree gained a few more merge conflicts (Dave is looking at these)
as did the ldp tree (very trivial).

The x86-latest tree managed to get merged (with several conflicts) and
build (after "x86: use explicit timing delay for pit accesses in kernel
and pcspkr driver" was reverted and a patch for a conflict with the kvm
tree was applied).

I reverted "PCI: sparc64: use generic pci_enable_resources()" and am told
that the other architecture patches that are similarly not needed will be
removed as well.

I applied a (temporary and incorrect) patch to the usb tree to get us
building.

I reverted all the wusb patches out of the ldp tree due to build problems.

It would be helpful at this point (close to the new merge window) for
subsystem maintainers to attempt to rebase on/merge with Linus' tree to
see how many of the outstanding merge conflicts can be fixed within their
tree.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have created today's linux-next tree at
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/sfr/linux-next.git
(tar balls at
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/sfr/linux-next/).

You can see which trees have been included by looking in the Next/Trees
file in the source. There are also quilt-import.log and merge.log files
in the Next directory. Between each merge, the tree was built with
a ppc64_defconfig for powerpc and an allmodconfig for x86_64.

There were a few merge conflicts (fairly trivial and/or notified) and
couple of build failures (notified). Below is a summary of the state of
the merge.

We are up to 56 trees, more are welcome (even if they are currently
empty). Thanks to those who have contributed, and to those who haven't,
please do.

Status of my local build tests will be at
http://kisskb.ellerman.id.au/linux-next. If maintainers want to give
advice about cross compilers/configs that work, we are always open to add
more builds.

Thanks to Jan Dittmer for adding the linux-next tree to his build tests
at http://l4x.org/k/ and the guys at http://test.kernel.org/.

Hi Stephen,

The next-20080414 kernel panic's while booting up on the ppc machines.
The same was seen in the 2.6.25-rc8-mm1 kernel and was fixed by
the patch at http://lkml.org/lkml/2008/4/2/650
