This is a different file plugin, that can be considered as another file system, which uses the same low-level code (nodes, balancing, etc). Tails/extents are a business of (default) unix-file plugin, whereas cryptcompress file plugin operates only with so-called "ctail items", which look mostly like tails, but ain't merged at logical cluster boundaries, plus some other peculiar properties. If compression is enabled, then in default mode management will be passed to unix-file plugin with "notail" policy, as soon as some heuristic detects, that file is incompressible. See http://66.102.9.104/search?q=cache:TkVTWciE3F8J:www.namesys.com/cryptcompress_design.html for details. Xattrs are not yet supported in Reiser4. Bartosz had a desire to devote some time for them, but I guess it is not yet ready. Cc-ed the mailing list: maybe someone knows how to bypass xattrs when implementing GlusterFS.. Thanks, Edward. gordan@bobich.net wrote: > Hi, > > My apologies for bothering you again, but I couldn't find any reiser4 > mailing lists to ask on. > > I'm trying to implement GlusterFS on top of Reiser4, and it is > complaining that the underlying FS (i.e. Reiser4) doesn't support > extended attributes. Yes, they are far from being ready. I'm too lame to implement this stuff in foreseeable future + I'm having some hard times trying to earn a living and continue my education. I don't see any possibility that I could _start_ (not even mention finishing) coding before June. Regards, Bartosz ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 3+ messages in thread
