Looks like I don't fully understand how it is not working. I could be
pretty far off base with what I am trying...

amixer settings for each of the 4 devices that comes up:

amixer -c1
Simple mixer control 'FM',0
   Capabilities: cswitch cswitch-joined cswitch-exclusive
   Capture exclusive group: 0
   Capture channels: Mono
   Mono: Capture [off]
Simple mixer control 'Mic/Line',0
   Capabilities: cswitch cswitch-joined cswitch-exclusive
   Capture exclusive group: 0
   Capture channels: Mono
   Mono: Capture [off]
Simple mixer control 'Capture',0
   Capabilities: cvolume
   Capture channels: Mono
   Limits: Capture 0 - 15
   Mono: Capture 15 [100%]
Simple mixer control 'Capture Boost',0
   Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined
   Playback channels: Mono
   Mono: Playback [on]
Simple mixer control 'TV Tuner',0
   Capabilities: cswitch cswitch-joined cswitch-exclusive
   Capture exclusive group: 0
   Capture channels: Mono
   Mono: Capture [on]

Recording doesn't generate an error (not sure about device to use):

arecord -D hw:2,1 -f S16_LE -t wav test.wav
Recording WAVE 'test.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 8000 Hz, Mono
Warning: rate is not accurate (requested = 8000Hz, got = 119466Hz)
          please, try the plug plugin

However, there is silience in the resultant wav file.

if possible, let me know what direction I should go in to debug this
further.

Thanks,

John
