Hi,

Is the USB support for grub2 completed or still in progress ?

Is it possible to know,if incomplete, till what level we have reached ?

Thanks,

Viswesh

Hi,

Lately I have been working on USB support for GRUB 2. It's not
completely ready yet. The code was only tested on QEMu and supports
UHCI, OHCI, USB Mass Storage and HID. Most likely it will not
immediately work on real hardware. But please test and report if you
want to be sure ;-)

You can download a tarball of GRUB 2 with USB included or a patch
here:

http://mgerards.net/grub/

You can read more about this here:

http://grub.enbug.org/USBSupport

Stuff I will yet have to do:

- Implement EHCI support
- Cleanup
- Improve error handling
- Test on real hardware :-)
- Make it possible to add and remove devices on the fly

Hi!

I'm new to this list. :)

I'd just like to know if usb and uhci or ohci
support for TQM board with MPC860 is already
implemented somewhere.
I'm using 2.4.4 kernel from DENX and when I include
support for any of (X)HCI options it will not compile.

Tis is another post. I get the impression that noone on the usb list is interested in adding native ALSA support to the audio driver. In that case I will try to make some headway.

Shorter term - no. It'll continue as a happy co-existing OSS driver. Longer
term it may well gain from being redone to use the ALSA layers, which should
both shrink the driver and enable more modes (eg the 24bit mode on the
philips) to be used

This is from the linux-usb-devel list back in march.

They don't seem to have much idea about ALSA at this point which is bad IMO.

Does anyone have an idea of whether having native support in the usb audio driver is the correct approach for low latency pro sound cards?

I suspect it would be a Good Thing, and might turn up
a few issues (do they expect sound devices to appear
and disappear dynamically?) in the ALSA design ... but
it's not supposed to be necessary if OSS (or compat)
are working.
