Do you mean suspend to RAM or hibernation?

I mean suspend to RAM, which is what I believe the Suspend-Resume
referred to in the document
http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/805-4433/6j46udqi7?l=en&a=view&q=power+management
also refers to.
My uninformed research into it gives me an indication that it is not.
And I'm curious as to whether there was some history to its possible
exclusion, or it is just something that no one has ever attempt to
implement.
Thanks in advance,
Shaddy

I think no one has ever tried it, although you should ask SPARC architecture
developers/maintainers about that.
Thanks,
Rafael

Hi,
I've asked this question at the Linux power management mailing list, and
it was recommended I ask it here
[https://lists.linux-foundation.org/pipermail/linux-pm/2008-October/018793.html].
Basically, I've long been aware that my Ultra 10 was capable of
supporting suspend to RAM under Solaris, and confirmed this feature
under the name Suspend-Resume from here
[http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/805-4433/6j46udqi7?l=en&a=view&q=power+management].
I could find no evidence that the Linux sparc64 kernel supports this
power management feature, nor the Auto Waking feature. Does the Linux
sparc64 kernel support the Suspend-Resume pm function?
If not, is there some historic reason for this?
Thanks in advance,
Shaddy

No.

I'm the only person working on the port and there are only
24 hours per day.

That's fair enough. Totally understand where you are coming from. It's
an almighty effort that you've made too, because the sparc port is very
good.
I aspire to be able to contribute, but will need to self learn kernel
development before I am in a position to do that.
Thanks,
Shaddy

Noone every tried it, AFAICT. sparcs are big and power-hungry beasts,
so there was not real pressing need to suspend them...
