Hi, is it possible to include Creative driver into alsa drivers package,
so it will be available right after kernel installation without
additional compiling? Besides, you can react faster to kernel changes
and make driver compatible with latest kernels when necessary, if you
include it.

We have no contact with Creative about their drivers yet, thus no plan
for merging as now.
If we need to work on their stuff by ourselves, it means essentially
that we fork. That's what I'd like to avoid unless really needed.

So, give them pressure to make a contact with us. Give my address
again, and convince them that it'll be the way to go...

thanks,

Takashi

I think we will never see this happen.

I wrote in the forum and I even send a private message to the
moderator of the concearning thread... but I never got any reply
except "That it will be forwarded".

I asked them to contact you, or give me an address I can forward to
you... but neither you nor I got feedback...

So I would say.. lets wait untill all features are working and then fork ;-)

Kind regards
Bjoern

What about Takashi's driver then? Will it be maintained or even integrated? Or will someone maintain the Creative driver?

I won't maintain my driver any more. It makes no sense at this point.

We'll need to see with patience how Creative reacts. No matter what,
someone needs to tell them... If nothing happens really, we need to
fork from their driver, clean up to merge into the upstream.
But, it's no time to decide it now.

thanks,

Takashi
