Hello Coders;

Does anybody have a Debian based kernel with R4 running?
Or
Has anybody an actual kernel with R4 running?

Sincerely

Hi,

Running Gentoo with kernel 2.6.26.5 with Reiser4. Compiled at sept 21,
never had any issues with this build.

Regards,

Arend

Everybody needs a bit of support I think ;)
But seriously, I think Reiser4 is a great fs, so any kind of support to
Edward and other developers would be welcome I suppose.

Arend

The point, as far as I can see, is that:
We have some task/to do lists which are flying around the web, and
There are some problems to find the starting point.

Is this assumption correct, or only subjective feeling?

Hi Christian,

I have the same impression :)

I've also the impression that this question needs to be answered for
those who aren't too familiar with the filesystem

sure, running 2.6.28-rc6-zen1 (with patch from latest reiser4 from mm-tree),
and a few little glitches so far which I might be able to reproduce
but unfortunately don't have the time to do now

I highly appreciate your support for reiser4 as an "enthusiast" and
convinced reiser4-user
but from the back of my head there's a voice having a BIG question
which needs to be answered (no offense):

are you guys still trying to fork reiser4? are you already forking it ?

Regards

Mat

hallo,
I am running D-Lenny with 2.6.26-1r4-686 compiled 4 september.
And I have set up a testbox based on Crux with a few mods and a
stripped down 2.6.26-1r4-686 kernel so I can mess with grub-2 on a
root R4 partition. (This is a PIII box so it will say little about
interaction with the latest hardware)
So far so good, but not finished for a while yet. Time is short and
days are long. . .

Cheers,

Jan de Kruyf

Wow, thanks for all your informations.
So, there is a diverse usage of kernels with R4:
Arend Freije: Gentoo 2.6.26.5
Volker Armin Hemmann: 2.6.27.6
Mat "Jack da Chef": 2.6.28-rc6-zen1 with patch from mm-tree
Jan de Kruyf: D-Lenny 2.6.26-1r4-686

And there is interest in further developing the fs.

Dear Reiser Coders;
Brandon Berhent reminded me, that (quote of his e-mail):

 >2.6.28-rc6-zen1
 >don't understand why someone else said patches from -mm tree on top of
 >it, because it uses the latest reiser4 patches available anyway so
 >it's kind of pointless.

I got it wrong and said it without using parenthesis as Mat "Jack da
Chef" did it.
Sorry for potential irritations.

Hello,

I'm using 2.6.27-gentoo-r3 and I'm interested in further using R4.

Best regards,
Jan
