Lots of new features have recently made it into the xen-unstable tree, and I
think now is the time to declare a freeze so that we can get 4.0 out the
door early in the New Year. If you're sitting on any feature patches,
declare them or send them on now - I want to freeze the tree except for any
agreed special cases at the end of the week.

I've been thinking of implementing 'block-resize' feature, but haven't
found time to do it yet.
Would you consider this for inclusion in Xen 4.0, if I happen to find
time for it? :)
It shouldn't be very risky addition.. I guess most changes would be on
the guest kernel side.

It would have to be ready pretty soon...

My multiboot-like module support patch is still pending:
Subject: [PATCH] multiboot-like module support
Date: Sun, 29 Nov 2009 13:19:35 +0100
I'd like to see it as soon as possible so that I can at last officially
merge GNU Mach's Xen support into its master.

The Xen 4.0 will be release with a stable pv_ops dom0 included in mainline
Linux?
Thanks,
Thiago

The two are on separate release schedules. We will build the pv_ops kernel
by default when building Xen 4.0 from source, but there's no greater
significance than that. However, Jeremy's pv_ops tree (which of course
tracks mainline) should work well for most dom0 and domU applications.

However, I'd like to make Xen 4 a pre-req for future pvops dom0 kernels,
so we can switch to the new APIC setup method. At some point after Xen
4 is officially released, I'll do the cut-over in xen.git.

What about Remus Project? As I know it only works with 2.6.18 kernel.
And what about Kemari project? Will it be also included in 4.0?

I think Remus requires blktap2 and IMQ support, and both of those are
now supported in the latest pv_ops dom0 tree.
I don't know if anyone has yet tested Remus with pv_ops dom0 though..

I don't know about "supported". I merged some blktap code, but I
haven't got it to work yet.

Heh, ok. I was planning to test it shortly, but I guess no need for that
yet.

Have you ever thought about bundling the gplpv drivers with a Xen release?
Not the source (as it cannot be compiled on the same platform as Xen
itself) but the current binary release of the drivers and maybe an iso
with all drivers on it so that they can be quickly assigned to a domU
for installation...
Best regards,
Christian
