Hi Experts,

I compiled and ported linux kernel-2.6.37.6, adeos-ipipe-patch-2.6.37.6 and
xenomai 2.5.6 in mini2440.
After porting when i run xeno-test,

I am getting following error

Xenomai: /dev/rtheap is missing

What do you mean "porting"? If mini2440 is based on s3c2440, it should 
work out of the box. If it does not, please send patches.

You have probably missed the following message when running "make 
install":

*** Warning: you are not super-user and sudo does not work, real-time devices
*** nodes will not be created.
*** If you do not create these devices by hand, Xenomai test programs will not
*** work.
*** To create these devices please run "make devices" with super-user
*** privileges.

Which, I believe, is self-explanatory.

Mini2440 is based on s3c2440,

I did the following steps to patch xenomai for Mini2440

I patched the adeos-ipipe-2.6.37.6-arm-1.18-03.patch to linux
kernel-2.6.37.6

I used mini2440_defconfig as configuration file, i did  not made any changes

After sucessful compilation, i booted the mini2440 compiled kernel

I crosscompiled xenomai-2.5.6 using the following command

./configure --build=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --host=arm-linux
--enable-arm-mach=s3c2410 --enable-arm-tsc

make

make install

I copied the directory xenomai to /usr

Did i missed any step

When i try to run xeno-test i got following error

Xenomai: /dev/rtheap is missing

(chardev, major=10 minor=254)


I created rtheap using the following command

mknod /dev/rtheap c 10 254

The device is created in /dev

Now i am getting following error when i run ./xeno-test

 /usr/xenomai/bin/xeno-load: line 180: 3347 Segmentation fault $suflag $*
$cmdargs

Please do not use xeno-test with xenomai 2.5 branch, launch the latency
and generate load by hand.

So, no porting involved finally.

You are probably missing --enable-arm-eabi. Note that if you start with
xenomai 2.6.0, the configuration is much easier (basically, you just run
configure with no arguments and it works).

And xenomai 2.6.0's xeno-test should work better.

Xenomai: native skin or CONFIG_XENO_OPT_PERVASIVE disabled.(modprobe xeno
native?)

i downloaded  adeos-ipipe-2.6.37.6-arm-1.18-03.patch separately and patched
with kernel-2.6.37.6.
and configured the kernel as mini2440_defconfig, and compiled the kernel

i missed the prepare-kernel.sh step.


If i patch the xenomai using the following step , the kernel is not booting

$xenomai_root/scripts/prepare-kernel.sh --arch=arm \
  --adeos=$xenomai_root/ksrc/arch/arm/patches/adeos-ipipe-2.6.37.6-arm-* \
  --linux=$linux_tree

What version of xenomai are you using? Only 2.6.0 works with 2.6.37.

I am using xenomai-2.5.6.

When i tried with xenomai-2.6.0-rc1 with kernel-2.6.37.6. It gets error
during kernel compilation

Which kernel and xenomai version is working in mini2440

I tried vanilla kernel 2.6.35.9 with mini2440_defconfig , i am getting error
while booting

The only non-working version is kernel 2.6.37 (and later) with xenomai
2.5.6. Please try 2.6.0-rc4 instead of -rc1. However, I am surprised
that the kernel does not build with the 2.6.37 patch, as I build-tested
it. Could you put the compilation logs on a pastebin?

The error you have with 2.6.35.9 does not seem to be related to xenomai.

The patch works, Thank you for fixing this

Now i was able to build without errors. I got mini2440 booting

I was able to run xeno-test

But when i try to test Helloworld program. I found the following libraries
missing

error while loading shared libraries: librtdk.so.0: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

If you intend to run a program with xenomai 2.6.0, you have to compile
it with xenomai 2.6.0.
