OE-core based java layer?

Hi,

Beagleboard.org has moved to the OE-core metaverse to build the factory
images and we need java support to stay feature compatible with OE classic.

Are there already people working on such a thing or should I just go ahead
and add a meta-java to the meta-oe repo and start importing recipes one-by-one?

In my opinion ths should be added to <http://www.openembedded.org/wiki/LayerIndex>.

Henning already did it. https://github.com/woglinde/meta-java/

I was able to build openjdk-6 from it. Still having some problems with
some of our Buglabs java recipes but I think its not meta-java's
fault. :)

thanks for the feedback. I did not found the time to announce it via E-Mail.

But now it is.

Which brings me to the question, if we should host meta-java on the oe git servers or not?

I've found a common theme for this week: It works if you follow the README,
but noone actually reads a README :)
