Hello Yocto developers,

Mentor Embedded (part of Mentor Graphics) recently announced the availability of its new Embedded Linux Kit.  This download is absolutely free and available to anyone that would like to tinker with a prebuilt, Yocto-based image set for both the BeagleBoard and the PandaBoard.  Each kit also contains a Sourcery CodeBench Lite (integrated cross toolchain), a set of libraries/headers for applications development, and a quick start guide that should get you started right out of the box.

This is not a commercial!  :)  (how can it be...it is free)

BTW, Sean Hudson will be demo'ing the MEL Kit at ELC on both BeagleBoard and PandaBoard.  This will all happen somewhere at the ELC Technical Showcase.  Stop by and say hi if you are at ELC.

Hi John,

I thought Mentor Embedded Linux was built around Mentor System Builder. 
  Is System Builder going away and Yocto taking its place inside Mentor?

I'll try to give the download a whirl over the weekend on my beagleboard.

System Builder is just Mentor's view of bitbake/metadata.  These MEL Kits are built with the same bitbake that Yocto uses and is based on all the same metadata (oe-core, meta-yocto, etc.)

The Mentor-specific metadata (sb-core) is being merged into the core layers, so you could say that System Builder is looking more and more like Yocto.
