Patch Bomb!

Over the next few hours I plan to send out a lot of patches
for review.  Most of these have been around and under test
for a month or more, and at the time I originally committed
them I wasn't sure how best to get them reviewed.

We decided that sending them all out to the list was a
good way to ensure visibility and preserve community
input.  So here goes.  From now on I'll send patch series
out to the list when they're ready rather than hanging on
to them like this.

One more thing.  The patches are grouped into smaller series
(with some just standing alone).  But they do build on each
other.  They are currently available in order on the ceph-client
git tree, branch "for-review", here:

OK, that's it.  My apologies if these got mashed by my
mailer.  I sent all these using Thunderbird and I don't
yet have things set up the way I want.  I hope to avoid
that entirely by sending using git in the future but
haven't got that set up yet either.

I have created a new branch "for-review-1" that addresses all review
comments received so far for the commits in the "for-review" branch.
A number of the patches needed slight changes based on requested
changes to patches earlier in the series.

Otherwise there's no significant differences.  I won't be submitting
these to the list for now but I put the updated ones there so people
had a chance to see them in their updated form.
