canutils, I used linux/can.h generated by install_headers.

You need recent kernel headers on your linux box to work. On the
compiler machine in the office we have:

$ grep __kernel_sa_family_t /usr/include/linux/socket.h
typedef unsigned short __kernel_sa_family_t;
        __kernel_sa_family_t    ss_family;              /* address family */
