Try different model option like model=hp or model=basic, as described in
ALSA-Configuration.txt (see ALC260).
If it doesn't work, you can use model=test after building with debug
option (--with-debug=full of alsa-driver configure), then you can adjust
almost every mixer setting.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
tiwai,
As I said, I've tried modprobe hda-snd-intel with each model and there is
no result. With hp I've have no sound at all (even with an external
amplificator).
Maybe it worked for someone but not for me :)
Bye

I have the same issue with my PB easynote v7907 : No sound at all, except a
very very weak output (almost inaudible) through S/PDIF when playing an
audio CD.
I use alsa1.11
I tried with an USB HeadSet, and it worked perfectly... In fact it was
even too loud. I did that test to check that my alsa installation was
working fine. So Alsa is working, but not on the notebook speakers nor at
an audible level through S/PDIF.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to report the same problem on a Packard Bell Easynote V7912,
with Ubuntu Dapper. I also installed alsa 1.0.12rc1 and tried all the
hda_intel models but without any success. I tried changing switches and
settings with the hda_intel test model, but didn't manage to improve on
the barely audible sound on the headphones (I have only tested with
desktop sound events and with some I can
hear a faint sound of something, and with others not).
Thank you
Adrian.

I tried the test model with alsa 1.12rc1.
I can get things to happen by connecting different pins to different
outputs or inputs in the options tab in gnome mixer but I can get sound in
the line out only, never in the laptop speakers. Mics seem to work
allright.
Can someone tell me what is the way to go to find the right combination ?

I tried the test model with alsa 1.12rc1.
I can get things to happen by connecting different pins to different
outputs or inputs in the options tab in gnome mixer but I can get sound in
the line out only, never in the laptop speakers. Mics seem to work
allright.
Can someone tell me what is the way to go to find the right combination ?

I have no sound on speakers and very low on the headphones.
In the alsamixer all is on.
Recently i actualized to Alsa 1.0.11 but with same problem.
In the Volumen Control, i have two:

2. Realtek ALC260 (oss mixer)
And it is correct.
Here leave same test:

tiwai,
As I said, I've tried modprobe hda-snd-intel with each model and there is
no result. With hp I've have no sound at all (even with an external
amplificator).
Maybe it worked for someone but not for me :)
Bye

Hi,
I'm having the same problem as you. My Computer is a PB Easynote 7909
Laptop and I have very, very low sound out the speakers or out the
headphones (I had to connect my computer to my stereo hifi with very high
sound to hear something). I tried each model (with modprobe). I also tried
official (forked ?) drivers available at realtek, without success.
No result. I've been on #lad and #alsa, some people helped me and I'm now
sure it isn't a mixer problem.
I've also checked the BIOS
I'm using alsa-driver 1.11
I've tried with two kernels : 2.6.17 (knopix) and 2.6.15 (ubuntu). It
hasn't fixed anything.
Thank you.
Best regards,
`ixM
P.S. If something is missing, I'll add it :)

Try different model option like model=hp or model=basic, as described in
ALSA-Configuration.txt (see ALC260).
If it doesn't work, you can use model=test after building with debug
option (--with-debug=full of alsa-driver configure), then you can adjust
almost every mixer setting.

I have the same problem with the PB easynote v7900. No sound at all, even

Maybe the following can help.
