The kernel for the Nitrogen-6x/SabreLite seems fixed at 3.0.35.
Will it [ever] be updated to anything newer, as this is quite
old by now?

mx6qsabrelite is supported in 3.11-rc7, so you can use the latest
kernel with it.
BTW, yesterday I added LVDS support to sabrelite:

I like to build the kernel and dtb manually, but meta-fsl-arm is also
capable of generating a sdcard image with a 3.10 kernel.
