Hi to all,
I am currently trying to deploy Xenomai-2.6.2.1 patched to Linux-3.0.35 (Freescale Release) on the i.MX6Q Sabrelite board.
I followed this procedure for the installation : http://www.xenomai.org/documentation/xenomai-2.6/html/README.INSTALL/#arm
When I boot the target with an microSD card, the kernel starts to uncompressing but at one moment stops at this line : Switching to clocksource ipipe_tsc ; and nothing happens after.
Any suggestion will be welcome.
Best regards.

Could you try with the latest version from xenomai git instead of 2.6.2.1?

Hi Gilles,
On git under tags, the latest version of Xenomai is 2.6.2.1 (5 months ago), and I think that is the same version I use.
Could you give me the direct link to get the latest version of xenomai, please ?
I have a question about the images put on the target : I took the rootfs and the u-boot from LTIB, and took only the uImage from : build_root/linux/arch/arm/boot/uImage
Is this right ? And is there something else to do ? To put the patched kernel with Xenomai on the target.
Regards,
Younes CHALABI

Hi Gilles,
I followed your advice, using the xenomai-master, but now the kernel not boot also. It stops at :
## Booting kernel from Legacy Image at 10800000 ...
Image Name: Linux-3.0.15
Image Type: ARM Linux Kernel Image (uncompressed)
Data Size: 3825732 Bytes = 3.6 MB
Load Address: 10008000
Entry Point: 10008000
Verifying Checksum ... OK
Loading Kernel Image ... OK
OK
Starting kernel ...
Uncompressing Linux... done, booting the kernel.
Sorry for disturbing you, but it's been a month since I still can not run xenomai on the Sabrelite board. Now I need concise answers :
1- Did you already used Xenomai on the Sabrelite board ?
2- Which kernel | xenomai version and patches for the Sabrelite board ?
3- After the build I've got two folders :
1) build_root contains : linux and xenomai
2) staging_dir contains : dev and usr
All I do to transfer the images is :
1) Take U-BOOT from LTIB
2) Take ROOTFS from LTIB
3) Take KERNEL (uImage) from build_root/linux/arch/arm/boot
Are these files all I need to have, to run Xenomai on the Sabrelite board ?
Or I still have to do something ?
Please, if you have a methodology of how to proceed step by step, for finally having Xenomai on my Sabrelite board, it would be nice of you.
Thanks in advance for your precise answers.
Best regards,
Younes CHALABI

You manage how you want, but if you want to run examples on the board,
they have to find the xenomai libraries and device nodes. As already
answered, there is more than one way to do it.

Hi Gilles,
Thanks for your answers.
It seems that I have a kernel panic while the boot and the cpu cores shut down one after the other still the target doesn't respond, and any new display is shown.

The important information about the kernel is its configuration. Please
try compiling a kernel with a configuration which does not enable
CONFIG_IPIPE and CONFIG_XENOMAI, when it boots, try enabling the
options. The error you have does not seem to be related to Xenomai.
The first configuration to try would be imx6_defconfig, where you would
disable CONFIG_CPU_IDLE.

Hi Gilles,
I have tried to disable the CONFIG_IPIPE and CONFIG_XENOMAI manually on the .config, where CONFIG_cpu_IDLE was already disabled, then recompile but still have the same issue as previously.
Here is my .config file (after modification), if it can help :

The important information about the kernel is its configuration. Please
try compiling a kernel with a configuration which does not enable
CONFIG_IPIPE and CONFIG_XENOMAI, when it boots, try enabling the
options. The error you have does not seem to be related to Xenomai.
The first configuration to try would be imx6_defconfig, where you would
disable CONFIG_CPU_IDLE.

It is generally not a good idea to edit the .config manually. Automatic
dependencies may re-enable the options you want disabled.
Anyway, if indeed the kernel without CONFIG_IPIPE and CONFIG_XENOMAI
does not boot, your problem has probably nothing to do with Xenomai.
Again, I would recommend using mx6q_defconfig and checking that this
default configuration at least boots.

Hi,
i'm try to do the same things (porting xenomai 2.6.2.1 on imx6q sabresd
kernel ) and i have the same error ('Switching to clocksource ipipe_tsc'
on boot the kernel).
The steps was these:
1. patch the kernel with the prepare-kernel.sh with the correct CFLAGS
and LDFLAGS (adeos-ipipe-3.0.36-arm-1.18-11.patch)
2. apply the post patch (adeos-ipipe-3.0.36-arm-1.18-11-post.patch)
3. boot the new kernel
4. show the error 'Switching to clocksource ipipe_tsc'
i have some simple question.
1. There is a solution actually for this (are there some kernel
particular options to enable/disable)?
thanks for all.

Hi,
my kernel working before applying adeos-ipipe-3.0.36-arm-1.18-11.patch +
adeos-ipipe-3.0.36-arm-1.18-11-post.patch,
So is not a problem before installing ipipe.
Can you tell me if there are some invalid/missing configuration in
attached .config ( otherwise the patch has problems ) ?

Hi,
my kernel working before applying adeos-ipipe-3.0.36-arm-1.18-11.patch +
adeos-ipipe-3.0.36-arm-1.18-11-post.patch,
So is not a problem before installing ipipe.
Can you tell me if there are some invalid/missing configuration in
attached .config ( otherwise the patch has problems ) ?

Do you have local timer enabled in kernel configuration?
What is the revision of the chip (appears in the first few lines of the
kernel logs)?

I missed that part, 3.0.36 is not the latest version, please try 3.0.43
from xenomai git. Also, you have 3 patches to apply, not 2.
Finally, it is important to test the patched kernel without CONFIG_IPIPE
and CONFIG_XENOMAI.

I'll try the 3.0.43. The kernel patched without CONFIG_IPIPE and

No, it is stable. In fact, except for the Raspberry Pi patches, it is ready
for a release.
Please do not use my private mail address and keep the conversation on

hi,
where i can find the exact kernel that can apply the
adeos-ipipe-3.0.43-mx6q-1.18-12-pre.patch, ...post, and so on ?
I downloaded 3.0.43 from kernel.org but is not correct.

The kernel.org sources do not need pre and post patches, pre and post
patches are for vendor branches. See ksrc/arch/arm/patches/README to see
to which commit these patches apply.
