For anyone still following or stumbling across this thread, Ralf Roesch
identified a commit from the 3.12 branch that appears to fix the issue,
both for the Xenomai patched BeagleBone kernel and for the 'standard'
BeagleBone kernel without xenomai patches applied.  The odd behavior I
was getting with a 'standard' kernel vs the xenomai patched kernel is
apparently due to my not generating enough stress to trigger the bug
when the xenomai patches were not enabled (it is much easier to generate
the hung task with the xenomai patches applied, but the issue isn't
directly related to xenomai in any way, it's a goof in the status
register handling of the MMC controller).
