[Qemu-devel] Windows 8 installation fails with qemu-1.6.1

Hi all,

when starting qemu (with or without kvm active) I get the following error 
code after having a few minutes a blue windows logo on a black background:

Your PC needs to restart.
Please hold down the power button.
Error Code: 0x0000005C
Parameters:
0x00000110
0xFFD09BC8
0x00000019
0xC0000001

With KVM I tried -cpu host, without KVM I emulated a core2duo which fits my 
hardware. ACPI is enabled.

Any hints appreciated.

Hi all,

I tried qemu-kvm 1.2.0 there all Windows XP, 7 and 8 were able to be 
installed and booted.
On 1.6.1 only Windows XP still runs - 7 and 8 either get killed at 
installation or at bootup (after having installed them with 1.2.0).

Should I open a ticket for that?

Hi Erik,

ideally, you could try to find the modification which introduced that
regression (by using git bisect).

For bugs which might get lost because nobody looks after them currently,
I think that opening a ticket seems a good idea.
