Hi,
Could someone with sufficient permission please create the puppet-ceph repository (empty, no README or .gitignore) at http://github.com/ceph/ ?
A few weeks ago it was decided to host the development of the module on stackforge ( https://github.com/stackforge/puppet-ceph ) and also to establish a mirror under the ceph github namespace.
Cheers

Hi Ian,
It looks like nothing at all was created after all, not even the repository. Or maybe I don't understand how github works.
$ git push puppet-ceph master
ERROR: Permission to ceph/puppet-ceph.git denied to dachary.
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.
Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.
Could you please re-create it and add a README ? I should be able to get rid of it afterwards.
Thank you for your patience

Hi Ian,
I failed to push with:
ERROR: Permission to ceph/puppet-ceph.git denied to dachary.
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.
I also checked if I had enough permissions to merge a pull request and apparently I don't. Would you be so kind as to grant me additional permission on this specific repository ? If it looks like I already have permissions I will investigate more.
Really sorry this is being so complicated :-(

Any usage guide for these puppet recipes?
I would like to follow this:
https://github.com/ceph/puppet-ceph/blob/master/USECASES.md
"I want to operate a production cluster"
But it's not clear how to add OSD nodes and how to specify journal
disks and size.
For example, in my environment I have 12 spinning disks to be used
(with discovery, if possible) as OSD storage, 1 SSD to be used as
operating system (that obviously must not be formatted) and 2 OSD to
be used as journal with 1 partitions (15GB each) for each OSD.
Should I configure somethinghin the recipe ?

Hi,
At the moment the module can only be used to deploy mons. It's making slow progress but a number of patches went in Ceph and should significantly simplify writing the puppet module, starting in Firefly.
Cheers

Based on docs, OSD seems to be deployable from puppet.

Hi,
At the moment I would recommend using ceph-deploy instead of puppet. Although there are puppet modules that could be used, they require significantly more work than using ceph-deploy, even for someone who already has a running puppet master. The new puppet ceph module is expected to be simpler to use than ceph-deploy and address more use cases, but it is not ready yet.
Cheers
