On Friday we decided to kill off the CephFS standup for a while since
I'm about to move off the project for a while, and we don't have any
other regular reports for it. I'll be moving into the RGW standup next
week and will probably float around the core standup this week. Mark
is making arrangements for Joe & Noah once they come back to working
for us. :)

2014 will be the Year of the Linux Desktop^W^W^WCephFS! To that end, we
should schedule a daily standup to coordinate development activities.
The regular participants are probably:
Zheng Yan (Shanghai, China)
Li Wang (Changsha, China)
Sage Weil (California)
Greg Farnum (California)
John Spray (Edinburgh, Scotland)
...and of course anybody else who is interested in joining!
I think these are all (conveniently) 8 hours apart. Our options are
probably something like:
3pm CA / 11pm Edinburgh / 7am Shanghai
11pm CA / 7am Edinburgh / 3pm Shanghai
7am CA / 3pm Edinburgh / 11pm Shanghai
Ian tells me the Lustre team (which was similarly distributed) used to
rotate every few months to spread the early morning/late night pain. For
my part, I'm happy with any of these slots (although shifting a few
minutes earlier to 6:45am would be marginally better w/ my kids). Does
anybody else have any preferences?

My least favourite is the 11pm CA slot (mornings kill me). But yeah,
I think the only fair thing to do is to rotate and share the pain.
Cheers,
John

A little late on this (I was on vacation and my phone doesn't do
plain-text email!), but I prefer the morning slot to the later ones.

Let's go with
6:45am CA
2:45pm Edinburgh / GMT
10:45pm Shanghai
Starting next week?
I think the initial task is to do a big of backlog scrubbing and set
priorities. I shared a google doc with a 2 min braindump of where the
initial focus should be. Please edit/expand the list and then we can
prioritize...

I'm thinking of using the metadata cluster for a school project. I
just got a poster + work-in-progress report relating to CephFS
accepted at FAST'14.
Is there room in this meeting for me to sit in? I don't want to plug
up a space if seating is limited.
Thanks,
Michael

Curious about this, could you please share more about the idea behind it?
