I have a working RTnet for i210. But that is the old version, for
Xenomai 2.x. I intend to merge this work with Xenomai 3.

I am on the way merging i210 copper dependencies from kernel 3.16.7 , I 
may setup a github for people wanting to work with it, before sending a 
patch.

I have used a more recent kernel, 3.16 is EOL, so, I do not think I
will take your patch. However, I can do an untested port to Xenomai
3 and let you test the port if you are interested.

I agree, but unfortunately, at the moment I have to stick on 3.16 since 
my debian jessie is based on it....I have to check if they have made
3.18 kernel available for this release.
I have not checked if there were lot of changes between 3.16 and 3.18 
igb driver at the moment.
I will have a look at it.
I will try my port , and if it does not succeed, I will ask for some 
kind of help.Thanks however.

Since you are compiling your own kernel to patch it with Xenomai
anyway, you have no reason whatsoever to stick to the EOL version
chosen by Debian.

Certainly true.  We are using 3.14 at the moment because it works with
ipipe/xenomai and is supported by texas instruments for the CPU we
are using.  Debian doesn't mind. :)

Jessie will almost certainly stick with 3.16, which is being used by
debian and ubuntu and is being maintained by the canonical kernel team
(hence the ckt in the version number).

You can maybe find a backport of a testing kernel for jessie at some
point, but it is likely to be 4.x, not 3.18 and hence probably not
supported by ipipe yet.
