I have a customer that wants to stay with the old LTS (3.10.53)
kernel. Is there any way to use this kernel with the remainder
of meta-fsl-arm*, in particular with respect to the Vivante
graphics engine?

Using Jethro, the kernel module system should just work.

I sent a fix for galcore loading; it might have helped?
