I noticed that GRUB2 lacks docs , howtos and other things. I am not a
programmer. But i want to contribute to grub2 by helping in writing
docs.

Oh, please do. Did you have a look at the documentation for GRUB
Legacy to see what kind of documentation we would like to see?
Also, feel free to discuss GRUB 2 and ask for feedback on this list.

There is some information in the wiki (in the "Testing" pages) that
should help get you started. (For example, there are some sample config
files.)
