I have found a GPL'd patch for 2.4.23

http://www.uwsg.iu.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0307.2/2039.html

However, will this chipset ever be supported in the vanilla kernel source
tree?

Does anyone have a Promise 378 controller using Serial ATA RAID 1 and able
to boot from it successfully?

So far, google has yielded nothing but horror stories regarding getting this
driver to work, some implementations use SCSI-transport to control the SATA
controller, but this seems like a nightmare, is there a solution in the
works?
