From the testing, we verified that the issue of VNIF restore failure on pae host has been fixed. Right now, for ia32 up guest on pae host, pv drivers save&restore work well, but for ia32 smp guest on pae host, still some issues remained. We skip the testing for ia32e host for pv drivers build fail.
The detail report is:
pae platform:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ia32 UP:
-----------
Copy files in guest and save&restore one time, VBD pass
Copy files in guest and save&restore many times, VBD pass
Scp files to another machine from guest and save&restore one time, VNIF pass
Scp files to another machine from guest and save&restore many times, VNIF pass
Ia32 SMP:
-----------
Copy files in guest and save&restore one time, VBD pass
Copy files in guest and save&restore many times, VBD fail
Scp files to another machine from guest and save&restore one time, VNIF pass
Scp files to another machine from guest and save&restore twice, VNIF fail
ia32e platform:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
PV drivers build fail for both UP and SMP guest
Attached is xend.log for the smp guest pv driver save&restore many times fail condition.
Best regards,
Fan

Which PV drivers do you have installed?
In particular, if you have xen-platform-pci.ko installed, you _must_ also
have xenbus.ko and reboot.ko since the tools assume that if the callback
has been activated, the guest will suspend itself.
Looks to me from logs like you may have xen-platform-pci.ko, but not
the other two...
cheers,
S.

Hi Steven,
Thanks for your reminding, definitely I have inserted xen-platform-pci.ko, xenbus.ko, xen-balloon.ko and reboot.ko. If I only insert xen-platform-pci.ko, pv drivers(vbd, vnif, balloon) could not work, so I am sure that pv drivers themselves work before save/restore.
Best regards,
Fan

I think xenbus.ko is removed? There are only xen-platform-pci.ko, xen-balloon.ko, xen-vnif.ko and xen-vbd.o after build PV drivers in 32 bit system.

Yes, I noticed that xenbus.ko was removed w/ cset 14797, so I inserted all the other pv drivers except the removed one, and with cset before 14797, such as 14773, I am sure I have inserted all the required modules to make pv drivers work, including xenbus.ko.
Best regards,
Fan

I think xenbus.ko is removed? There are only xen-platform-pci.ko, xen-balloon.ko, xen-vnif.ko and xen-vbd.o after build PV drivers in 32 bit system.

Looks like the guest becomes unresponsive. I'll see if I have time to take a
look.
