Please backport the following 6 upstream commits to the 6.18.y stable tree:

1. 690dc03859e7 ("KVM: x86: Ignore cpuid faulting in SMM") [v7.1-rc1]
2. cf7d65d1d6f5 ("KVM: x86: Consolidate CPUID fault handling for emulator and interception logic") [v7.2-rc1]
3. be7fd7c3e8bc ("KVM: x86: Prioritize CPUID faulting over CPUID VM-exits in nested VMX") [v7.2-rc1]
4. d1bc99885a59 ("KVM: x86: Remove supports_cpuid_fault() helper") [v7.2-rc1]
5. e93a93f11490 ("KVM: x86: Virtualize AMD CPUID faulting") [v7.2-rc1]
6. b16c2aca369d ("KVM: selftests: Update hwcr_msr_test for CPUID faulting bit") [v7.2-rc1]

Patches 1 and 3 fix bugs in KVM's CPUID faulting virtualization (Fixes:
db2336a80489 ("KVM: x86: virtualize cpuid faulting")), ensuring that
CPUID does not fault in SMM and that CPUID faulting takes precedence
over CPUID VM-exits in nested VMX. Patch 2 is a non-functional refactoring
prerequisite for patch 3.

Patches 4-6 extend KVM's CPUID faulting virtualization (already supported
by KVM on Intel CPUs and by 6.18 host kernels on AMD CPUs via 65f55a301766
("x86/CPU/AMD: Add CPUID faulting support")) to AMD guests via
CPUID.80000021H:EAX.CpuidUserDis[bit 17] and HWCR.CpuidUserDis[bit 35],
allowing guests and container runtimes that rely on arch_prctl(ARCH_SET_CPUID)
to work uniformly across Intel and AMD KVM hosts, along with the
corresponding KVM selftest update.

All patches cherry-pick cleanly to 6.18.y except for a minor context
conflict in patch 2 (arch/x86/include/asm/kvm_host.h) and a u64 vs.
uint64_t type adjustment in patch 6 (tools/testing/selftests/kvm/x86/hwcr_msr_test.c).

Changes in v2:
- Include KVM maintainers and kvm@vger.kernel.org on Cc across the series
(omitted in v1 due to --suppress-cc=all).
- Link to v1: https://lore.kernel.org/stable/20261014212844.11997-1-aaltinay@google.com/

commit 690dc03859e7907bc995f389618c748619559477 upstream.

The Intel Virtualization Technology FlexMigration Application Note says,
"When CPUID faulting is enabled, all executions of the CPUID instruction
outside system-management mode (SMM) cause a general-protection exception
(#GP(0)) if the current privilege level (CPL) is greater than 0."

Always allow the execution of CPUID in SMM.

commit cf7d65d1d6f50daadfe7c475f0c2b1bfdc288b56 upstream.

Extract the logic for emulating CPUID faulting (where CPUID #GPs at CPL>0
outside of SMM) into a dedicated helper and use the helper for both the
full emulator and the intercepted-CPUID paths.

Opportunistically drop kvm_require_cpl(), as kvm_emulate_cpuid() was the
one and only user.

No functional change intended.

[jim: Add EXPORT_STATIC_CALL_GPL(kvm_x86_get_cpl) so that KVM vendor
modules can call kvm_is_cpuid_allowed(). Fix typo in commit message.]

commit be7fd7c3e8bcfd3a1804567ce5cf9ca3b254c1ba upstream.

Per the Intel SDM, "Certain exceptions have priority over VM exits. These
include invalid-opcode exceptions, faults based on privilege level, and
general-protection exceptions that are based on checking I/O permission
bits in the task-state segment (TSS)."

Ensure that when L2 executes CPUID at CPL > 0 while L1 has enabled CPUID
faulting, KVM intercepts the exit in L0 and queues #GP rather than
forwarding the CPUID VM-exit to L1.

Empirical testing confirms that this #GP has higher precedence than a CPUID
VM-exit on Granite Rapids (F/M/S 6/0xad/1).

commit d1bc99885a59d89e408f52f4c147b07bca9a686f upstream.

The function, supports_cpuid_fault(), tests specifically for guest support
of Intel's CPUID faulting feature. It does not test for guest support of
AMD's CPUID faulting feature.

To avoid confusion, remove the helper.

commit e93a93f11490992a477546d38d3a37b9b8dc6a5f upstream.

On AMD CPUs, CPUID faulting support is advertised via
CPUID.80000021H:EAX.CpuidUserDis[bit 17] and enabled by setting
HWCR.CpuidUserDis[bit 35].

Advertise the feature to userspace regardless of host CPU support. Allow
writes to HWCR to set bit 35 when the guest CPUID advertises
CpuidUserDis. Update cpuid_fault_enabled() to check HWCR.CpuidUserDis as
well as MSR_FEATURE_ENABLES.CPUID_GP_ON_CPL_GT_0.

Unlike VMX, SVM prioritizes the CPUID intercept over the #GP induced by
CPUID faulting.[1] This behavior has been confirmed on a Turin CPU (F/M/S
1AH/2/1).

commit b16c2aca369d180dc94275343b34966194317528 upstream.

Add BIT_ULL(35) (CpuidUserDis) to the valid mask in hwcr_msr_test, now that
KVM accepts writes to this bit when the guest CPUID advertises
CpuidUserDis.

Why? These aren't typical stable material, especially adding support for a new
feature (virtualizing AMD's flavor of CPUID faulting).
