SMP + K8 hangs on boot

SMP + K8 hangs on boot

I enabled SMP and processor = K8 in the config file - 
it hangs as shown below. Is this because writable page tables are
enabled? If so, it would save users a lot of time if they defaulted to
being mutually exclusive with SMP in the configuration dependencies
file.
