Bug ID: 1975
Summary: ntnic: virt queue data in BSS
Product: DPDK
Version: 26.11
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor
Priority: Normal
Component: ethdev
Assignee: dev@dpdk.org
Reporter: stephen@networkplumber.org
Target Milestone: ---
Putting virtual queue data in static arrays has a number of problems.
- BSS memory is slower than hugepages because of TLB overhead.
can cause performance loss in hot path.
- Hard coding size wastes space
- Data in BSS is not visible to secondary process.
This PMD does not support primary/secondary, but if it did this would break.
- NUMA aware can not allocate on appropriate NUA node
- Cache alignment
