The Spore Creature Creator game (running in Wine) segfaults on start:

state_tracker/st_manager.c:475: st_context_notify_invalid_framebuffer:
Assertion `stfb && stfb->iface == stfbi' failed.

It works (or at least starts) if software mode is forced.

Doesn't seem to be a regression, as it doesn't work on the 7.8 branch either.

I am having the same problem with Panzers II wine game. It worked fine some
time ago, let me know if I have to bisect it.

It's fixed in 7.9 branch and also runs better here. With master I am indeed
getting this:
