Hello,

I've been googling, but not much luck. Does
anyone know of a CSR chipset based USB dongle
that is firmware upgradeable to BT 1.2 (or
ships with BT 1.2) and that also supports the
headset and handsfree profiles under Bluez?

All the CSR chipset dongles I've seen so far
appear to be BT 1.1, but I'd really really
like to own an BT 1.2 dongle with AFH!

Thanks!

Hello,

> D-Link DBT-120 rev B3 is your choice :)

yes, I upgraded succesfully this dongle from BT1.1 to BT1.2.
I used this manual: http://www.holtmann.org/linux/bluetooth/dfu.html

I don't know about other dongle with CSR and BT1.2.
I have too MSI dongle, but firmware upgrade is not available.
Maybe they sells now new version of dongle, but informations on the web
are not clear.

I had timing problems when flashing it with btdfu. Try it at your own
risk.

What does that mean, exactly? Does the dongle become unusable? Does audio
not work correctly after a firmware upgrade? Does the firmware just not
upgrade properly?

Sorry to keep bugging you about this, but you can imagine that it's not
incredibly easy to find B3 revisions. I've found tons of B4 revisions,
but the B3s are a bit more rare. I'm just wondering if I can get by with
a B4.

Thanks!

actually the flashing itself fails. I also killed already one of the B4
dongles, but that was maybe my fault.

May you should try eBay. I ran out of B4 dongles for testing and so I
can't improve the btdfu program.

I am (trying ebay). Out of 6 available DBT-120's, only one is a B3, and I
had to harrass each seller to get that info. :) With that info on B4s I
think I'll do my best to find a B3 though.

BTW, do you want some more B4s to play with? Perhaps we (the list) can
work something out.

It's been a while since this post. I'm finally about to buy a DBT 120 B3.
Is it still the ideal USB Bluetooth dongle if I want to play with BT audio
features?
