If I wanted to test writable pagetables, can I just enable them for a
xenU kernel, or does it need to be enabled for xen0 and xenU?

I think enabing xenU is enough. xen0 is not involved in guest linux mm
virtualization. Correct me, if I'm wrong.

Yep, the choice is independent. You can enable it for xen0, or for
xenU, or for both, or for neither. :-)

Writable pagetables are a per-guest option, you can enable/disable
them independently for each guest.
