hi,
Iam trying to install libpcap 0.8.1 version library.I downloaded the
sources as .tar.gz file from the
http://www.tcpdump.org/release/libpcap-0.8.3.tar.gz
link.I could do ./configure,make,make install,all of them
successfully.but still I cannot find the libpcap.so.0.8.1 version file
in the /usr/lib or /lib/ or /usr/local/lib. directory. It is still the
old 0.6 version file. But I can find the libpcap.a and the man page for
pcap. at their locations.I tried running the ldconfig but of no use.It
says
/lib/libnss_winbd.so and /lib/libnss_winbind.so is not a symbolic link.I
guess it has got nothing to do with libpcap.Where could be the problem.I
tried it many times. This file is required by the ettercap
installation. It indeed requires 0.8.1 or above version. So Iam doing all
this. Can I simply get that single libpcap.so.0.8.1 and paste it in the
/usr/lib directory?Any help in this aspect would be greatly useful.
Thanking you in advance.
regrds-
kasuhal.
