Is there anyway to filter this spam in newsgroups

I recently joined your group and I see A LOT of spam. Is there anyway I
can filter them out in my thunderbird.

Hi, 

I don't use thunderbird, but I suppose there should be a way.

I've my mail filtered with Bogofilter and Spam Assassin (well, I've SA set up 
while bogofilter is learning :)), and it catch about all spam (this week it 
only failed to stop two short spam).
