Why not shut down ALSA bug-tracking, or, at least, put this advice
there (if not already, i've not checked)?

Well, or someone can volunteer more screening tasks (i.e. reading
bug reports, initial reacting, sorting out and assigning/pinging
developers), the system would work fine...

I think one of the reasons you and the other core devs don't use it, is
that Mantis is crap.
If you use some real tool like bugzilla etc. it could work for you
rather than against....
