you should use the patch

http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/

The official iproute2 package does not have the latest HTB code

You'll either have to get a patch or the pre-compiled static binaries
from:
http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/

See the 'Downloads' section

Hi Everyone..!!

i'm beginner in tc with htb, i'm use to limit public, and nat ip clients,
i'm to add to one of my server and get this error:

Unknown qdisc "htb", hence option "default" is unparsable

here is my server information:

In my first atemp, the module "sch_htb" wwas not loaded, so i load "modprobe
sch_htb", and again, the same error. Next i downloaded the
"htb3.6-020525.tgz" from http://luxik.cdi.cz/~devik/qos/htb/ and try to
execute with "tc" from tar. It's work, (i think) i check with show and
trafic counter works.

This is "tc" in /sbin/
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 114716 Nov 3 2003 tc
This is "tc" in htb3.6-020525.tgz
-rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 101992 May 12 2002 tc

The "tc" from the tarball is small compare to the system, so my question is,
can i use the tc from the tarball without any know issue? may i update my
kernel? what version are sure to work?

I'm newbie in this, excuse me my english, i hope understand me. Thanks a
lot.

The tc you got from the tarball has been stripped of the debug info. It
is 100% functional and fine.

Unless you encounter problems, your kernel should be fine too.
