* [PATCH 10/11] powerpc/85xx: Rework P1020RDB device tree

We split out the common bits of the P1020RDB device tree such that we
can reuse those bits between a 32-bit or 36-bit address map device tree.

We also update the P1020RDB device tree to utilize the new p1020 SoC dts
includes (fsl/p1020si-pre.dtsi & fsl/p1020si-post.dtsi).

Not really.  The main difference is that such a protocol doesn't exist for
processes that may want to suspend/hibernate the system.

Moreover, the race is real, because if you have two processes trying to use
/sys/power/wakeup_count at the same time, you can get:

Process A		Process B
read from wakeup_count
talk to apps
write to wakeup_count
--------- wakeup event ----------
			read from wakeup_count
			talk to apps
			write to wakeup_count
try to suspend -> success (should be failure, because the wakeup event
may still be processed by applications at this point and Process A hasn't
checked that).

Now, there are systems running two (or more) desktop environments each of
which has a power manager that may want to suspend on it's own.  They both
will probably use pm-utils, but then I somehow doubt that pm-utils is well
prepared to handle such concurrency.

I have one more rule.  If my would-be user space solution has the following
properties:

* It is supposed to be used by all of the existing variants of user space
  (i.e. all existing variants of user space are expected to use the very same
  thing).

* It requires all of those user space variants to be modified to work with it
  correctly.

* It includes a daemon process having to be started on boot and run permanently.

then it likely is better to handle the problem in the kernel.

These days most Samsung stuff gets in the kernel through Kukjin Kim.
This patch changes MAINTAINERS to reflect this.

By adding Kukjin Kim to the maintainers for S3C2410, S3C244x and
S3C64xx alongside Ben Dooks the extra entries become identical to the
base ARM/SAMSUNG entry and can move into it.

Also the S3C2416 gets a maintainer through the s3c24* wildcard - as it
did not have one until now.

One problem I see with XON/XOFF is that if we don't send XOFF at the right
time, we run the risk of entering a busy loop (any reasonable timeout delay
for example) and loosing input. So in theory, we would need to send XOFF
after every getc() and XON before each getc() and then need to delay a bit
to wait for the character (unless tstc returns true in which case we can
just grab the char in the buffer) which seems a bit excessive.

Maybe we need disable/enable flow control functions for when we know we
will be entering a busy loop the consumes serial input (ymodem and kermit
transfers and readline for example)

I do not think we want to go this route.

There are two possible approaches to attack this.

 - If we want to show everything after a potential and rare NUL in the log
   message most of the time, then "struct commit" should just store
   <ptr,len> pair. This grows "struct commit" with one extra ulong.

 - If we want to give us a way to notice and show these "funnily, this
   commit log message has a NUL in it" case as an exception in only
   selected codepaths, then "struct commit" should just gain "flags"
   4-byte int field between "indegree" and "date", and
   parse_commit_buffer() should set one bit in the flags when the log
   message has NUL in it. And teach only these selected codepaths to find
   the length from the object name with sha1_object_info() as needed. This
   grows "struct commit" with one 4-byte int, with runtime overhead only
   where it matters.

The approach taken by the patch wastes two malloc() blocks with their own
allocation overhead, and unused "alloc" field in the strbuf that does not
have to be there.

I suppose, but why not do u+rw anyway?  I site the line that
fixes permissions after uncompressing package archives in
buildroot/package/Makefile.package.in:

    $(Q)chmod -R +rw $(@D)

But for my purposes, getting the +w would be good enough, if you feel
strongly about this.

(BTW, not sure if "+rw" is better than "u+rw".  I always specify
the u or ug.  The man for chmod leads me to believe that +rw might
open up beyond u depending on the umask setting.  Again, I'm not
picky on this point.)

Actually, we're using Perforce, but I don't think that this is 
catering to Perforce in particular.  I think this would happen with 
any of the non-distributed version control systems (rcs, cvs, svn, ...).
No?

But I think you're right, that this probably effects any place
that there is a copy from a non-derived file, or a copy from
a file that wasn't untared by GENTARGETS, and a subsequent
edit of that file is attempted.  I just had to fix the ones that 
screwed my own projects, I didn't try to find other places.

So, I have made another patch that includes the changes in the
first patch, plus uclibc and target skeleton copies, plus any
other untar opts that I could find.  See what you think.

Only works on 32-bit, will crash on 64-bit.

Just let the compiler do it for you, please... the compiler absolutely cannot
optimize away a function that uses a volatile asm statement.  And it absolutely
cannot make a function that clobbers %o7 a leaf function.

Please just use the approach I suggested, it covers all cases and is in fact
future proof.

but setsockopt is per socket. i'm looking for something that is
per process (and inherited by children - in the example, wget).
this is to replace what i do at the moment, namely

and

I ran into a situation where a custom target skeleton did not have a /usr/sbin
- it relied on something else to make it (busybox?).  So when mtd.mk tried to
install things to it, install bombed out.  (I think that we were probably using
the new version of "make", which no longer sorts wildcards in alphabetical
order - so mtd might have been before busybox.)

I have attached a patch to make sure installation directory actually exists. 
Seems like a prudent thing to do.

With disabled ModeSetting, performance in some 3d applications drop almost to
zero.

glxgears runs flawlessly,

  I have kept my python work at nitin/python branch on poky contrib. the 2.7.2 python is working for all arches except arm. And I am going on vacation for few days, and I could not finish the python arm issue arm, so if you get a chance you can look into the arm issue, if you have not resolved it already then I will look into it again once I am back from my vacation on 13th Nov.
