I get the size to be passed to request_mem_region()
with pci_resource_len(). But that size sometimes
(depends on the card) is several MBs, while the hw
registers are just a few bytes above the base
address. Is it ok using a fixed length ?

no problem as long as it doesn't exceed.
you can reserve the partial areas.
